Are you superstitious? Do you engage in certain rituals that you think will bring you luck? Do you carry or wear something for protection against evil? Human beings have always tied themselves to some sort of talisman and rituals that would help them achieve success, prevent failure or both.
Good luck charms are widely spread over bingo halls throughout the world. Bingo tables do not only hold bingo cards, but also candles, pieces of jewelry, scented herbs and rabbits’ feet, among others. Bingo is a game of chance, and some believe lucky charms will increase their chances of winning.
Those that strongly believe in the power of lucky charms would not play a bingo game without them in the same way a very religious person would not take a very important decision without going to church and sharing the issue with his or her god. Not seeing something in three dimensions doesn’t necessarily mean we have to dismiss it as voodoo.
It is up to each individual to decide what works best. For some might be strategy, for others a good night of sleep, a nice drink, lighting a candle at a church or throwing salt over the shoulder before a game. Whatever works for you, that is probably the most effective good luck charm.
