The Indian tribe, Catawba, the only tribe acknowledged by the state, is trying to move its plan to build a high stakes bingo hall in South Carolina. Meanwhile, Santee residents oppose to the idea, but the tribe argues that the bingo will create 1800 jobs, really needed for the area.

The legislation that authorizes the Catawba tribe to keep on with their bingo plans has suffered much opposition from the state government. The Senate Committee will have to approve the bingo plans before the petition passes to the full Senate for another approval. If the Catawba tribe gets its way, it will have a better chance to be approved with other initiatives.
