Alan Smith, 68, had been retired from his job for about a month when he won the £53,000 jackpot at the Mecca Club in Norwich. Twenty years ago he won his first bingo jackpot and he was thrilled to find history repeating itself.

The grandfather of two completed a full house in 39 calls, which granted him £50,000 in the National Bingo Game. He also won £2,819 for the regional prize as well as £71 from the club.

In the 1980’s Mr. Smith won his first jackpot from a London Bingo Club and took home £32,000. He used the money to help out his family and buy a caravan. Now, he plans to give some money to his grandchildren and invest the rest.

He said he would keep playing. “I knew of someone who had won £100,000 and then stopped going just like that,” he said. “But not me. In my opinion, bingo is a great night out for old people.”
